Privacy Policy
Effective date: 17 September 2026
Engineers Digital Hub (“Engineers Digital Hub”, “EDH”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Engineers Digital Hub apps: the Engineers Digital Hub desktop app for Mac, EDH Pocket for iPhone and iPad, CPD for Construction Engineers for iPhone and iPad, and Seen on Site: Construction (formerly EDH Field) for iPhone, iPad and Mac (together “the apps”).
About Engineers Digital Hub
Engineers Digital Hub is a family of professional apps for structural and civil engineers and construction professionals. The apps bring engineering calculators, reference and knowledge bases, prompt assistance, drawing mark-up, sections and materials data, an IFC model viewer, CPD learning and logging, site records and inspection reports, and project records together on your own devices. They are built to work offline, so your engineering work stays with you.
Information You Enter Into the Apps
The apps may allow you to enter and store information such as:
- calculation inputs, design checks, and their results
- project records, notes, to-dos, and registers
- contacts and project details
- drawings, mark-ups, photos, sketches, and files you import
- site visits, observations, measurements, actions, risks and meeting notes
- photographs, voice recordings and their transcripts you capture in Seen on Site
- document content you create or convert within the apps
- CPD records, learning progress, quiz results, and certificates
- app settings, branding, and preferences
- other content you choose to add within the apps
This information is stored locally on your device.
How Your Data Is Stored
The Engineers Digital Hub apps do not store your project content, calculations, notes, drawings, documents, site records, CPD records, or other user-created data on developer-owned servers. We do not operate a server for your content, so there is nowhere for it to go.
Your data is stored locally on your device. The apps do not require you to create an account with us, and they do not transmit your project content to us. Because they are designed to run offline, your engineering work is handled on your own device rather than on our servers.
There are two exceptions, and both use your own iCloud account, not anything of ours. EDH Pocket syncs its records through your iCloud whenever you are signed in to iCloud, and keeps its project files in your iCloud Drive when it is available. Seen on Site can sync your records through your iCloud if you switch that on. Both are described in full under iCloud in EDH Pocket and Optional iCloud Sync below. Even then, nothing reaches us.
iCloud in EDH Pocket
EDH Pocket keeps its records in a store on your device and, whenever you are signed in to iCloud, copies them between your own iPhone and iPad through your own private iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit private database. The app has no separate switch for this.
Project files are kept in an Engineers Digital Hub folder in your iCloud Drive if iCloud Drive is available when the app first opens, and on the device if it is not. You can move them between iCloud Drive and the device in the app's settings.
That is your storage, governed by Apple's privacy policy. We cannot read, retrieve or delete anything in it, and we receive no copy of it.
Optional iCloud Sync (Seen on Site)
Seen on Site can sync your records between your own iPhone, iPad and Mac. This is switched off by default and only operates if you turn it on in the app's settings.
When it is on, records travel through your own private iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit private database. That is your storage, governed by Apple's privacy policy. We are not a party to it: we cannot read, retrieve or delete anything in it, and we receive no copy and no notification of it.
What syncs is the structured record: projects, visits, observations, measurements, actions, risks, meetings and reports, together with project contacts, your business profiles, the text of voice note and meeting transcripts, and the details recorded against photographs, drawings and documents, such as captions, references, markup and where a photograph was taken. Files do not sync. The photographs, voice recordings, sketches, drawn signatures, and imported drawings and documents themselves stay on the device where they were made or imported.
Turning sync off, then quitting and reopening Seen on Site, stops further syncing. Records already copied to your iCloud remain there until you remove them, which you can do from your Apple Account storage settings.
Camera, Microphone, Photographs and Location (Seen on Site)
Seen on Site is a site records app, so it asks for access to hardware that other apps in the family do not use. Every one of these is optional, each is requested at the moment you first use the feature rather than when the app opens, and refusing any of them leaves the rest of the app working.
- Camera, to photograph what you are recording, to scan QR labels, and on supported hardware to measure through the camera.
- Microphone, to record voice notes and meeting audio. By default meeting audio is recorded only once you have confirmed consent for that meeting, unless you switch that prompt off in Settings.
- Photograph library, only if you choose to import an existing image.
- Location, to stamp a photograph or an observation with where it was taken and to show it on a map. Location capture can be switched off entirely in Settings, and the app keeps working without it.
All of this is written to your device. Voice notes are transcribed on the device; if a device cannot transcribe without sending the recording to Apple, Seen on Site refuses to transcribe and tells you so, rather than uploading a client's site recording. Nothing captured is sent to us.
QR Labels (Seen on Site)
Seen on Site can print a QR label for a record. Scanning it with an ordinary phone camera opens a page on this website that shows what the label says.
The record's details are carried inside the code itself, in the part of the web address that follows the # character. Browsers never transmit that part to a web server, so the reference, title, project, location, date, status, practice, contact and author on the label are never received by us or by anyone hosting the page. The page reads them in the browser and displays them.
Loading the page is an ordinary web request, so our hosting provider sees that a request was made and the IP address it came from, as it would for any page on this site. It does not see the record.
On-Device AI Features
Some features in EDH Pocket, CPD for Construction Engineers and Seen on Site use Apple Intelligence, Apple's on-device machine learning. This processing happens entirely on your device. Your questions, documents, photos, and voice input are not sent to us, and we have no access to them.
Subscriptions
The Engineers Digital Hub desktop app, EDH Pocket and Seen on Site offer optional paid subscriptions, and Seen on Site also offers a one-off purchase. CPD for Construction Engineers is free and has no subscriptions or in-app purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store.
We do not receive your full payment card or banking details. We may have access only to limited information necessary to confirm subscription status and provide access to paid features.
How Information Is Used
Information handled by Engineers Digital Hub is used only to:
- provide the apps’ features
- save and display your entries, calculations, and other tracked information
- manage subscription access
- maintain app functionality and reliability
- respond to support enquiries if you contact us
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your entries or project information for advertising.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
We do not share your calculations, project records, drawings, documents, CPD records, or other user-created content with advertisers or data brokers. Because the apps run on your own device, your project content is not transmitted to us.
Third-Party Services
The apps rely on platform services only where necessary to operate key functionality, including:
- the Apple App Store for subscriptions and payments
- publicly available industry news feeds, which the optional News features in EDH Pocket and CPD for Construction Engineers fetch directly from your device; we do not operate or track these requests
- Apple iCloud, for EDH Pocket's record sync and iCloud Drive project files whenever iCloud is available, and for Seen on Site's optional record sync if you switch it on, as described above
- Apple Maps, which supplies the map tiles shown on Seen on Site's map screen; your device requests those tiles directly from Apple
The apps do not use third-party advertising networks or external cloud databases to store your engineering content.
This Website
This policy covers engineersdigitalhub.com as well as the apps. The website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and carries no advertising or tracking pixels. Two things are worth naming explicitly:
- Web fonts. Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). Your browser contacts Google to fetch them, and Google receives your IP address and browser details as part of that request. We receive nothing from it.
- The "notify me" form. Submitting it opens a pre-addressed message in your own email app. Nothing is transmitted to us unless you choose to send that message. If you do, we hold your address only to send you the updates you asked for, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Store badges and app links point to Apple's App Store, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Data Retention
Your information remains on your device unless you delete it. You can remove content within each app, and removing an app (subject to your operating system) removes its local data. Removing an app does not remove what it has stored in your own iCloud: EDH Pocket's records and iCloud Drive project files, and any records Seen on Site's optional sync has copied there, remain in your iCloud until you remove them there. We recommend keeping your own backups of important project files.
If you email us, we keep that correspondence only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and our records of it, and no longer than 24 months, after which it is deleted.
Security
We take reasonable steps to design Engineers Digital Hub in a way that respects and protects user privacy, including keeping your data on your own device.
However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for the security of the devices on which the apps and your project data are stored.
Your Choices
You can control your information by:
- choosing what information to enter into the apps
- deleting entries and files within the apps
- managing or cancelling subscriptions through your Apple App Store account settings
- removing an app and its local data from your device
- moving EDH Pocket's project files between iCloud Drive and the device
- switching Seen on Site's record sync on or off, and choosing whether it may use your location, the camera and the microphone
Children’s Privacy
The Engineers Digital Hub apps are professional tools intended for adults and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Disclaimer
The Engineers Digital Hub apps are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no legal obligation or liability arising from, or in connection with, your use of the apps or anything produced with them.
The apps’ calculators, analyses, prompts, references, and other outputs are aids to engineering judgement, not a substitute for it. All calculations, prompt outputs, references, and other results must be independently checked and verified by a suitably qualified, competent person before they are relied upon or used in any design, construction, or decision. You remain professionally responsible for any work you produce using the apps, and for confirming that every standard, method, value, and assumption used is correct and appropriate for your project and jurisdiction.
Nothing in this notice excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, we will update the effective date shown above.
